Each week we will introduce a new topic, and have an alphabet around it. We will have play and activity based on the topic of the week. The class will help create their own alphabet for the last session (or two). “Homework” will be to randomly select (draw) a letter each week and prepare something fun to do based on the next week’s alphabet.  Students will be encouraged to have access to the Kindle reading App on some electronic device during the week.

Students will be admitted based on age and development. 3-year-olds will be admitted ONLY if potty-trained, as this demonstrates a shift in maturity and that the child is ready developmentally for this type of environment.

6-9 Age Group

Write to Learn
10:00 to 11:30, Ages 6-9
Evangeline Schepper
Students will explore and build their own style of writing so that it becomes not only a form of expression but also learning. We will be creating learning logs to use alongside whatever schooling choice you have chosen. Using these logs, we will begin, build, or enrich students' understanding of language and grammar, as well as whatever they are learning at home. In addition to these logs, students will be writing four creative writing exercises, one of each student's writings will be published in a final class newsletter. Students will also get to participate in fun games such as Madlibs and sentence scrambles. Writing prompts and exercises are tailored to students' varying levels of understanding and comfort level. If you are looking for a way for your student to learn how to translate his or her thoughts into writing in an encouraging and flexible environment, then you have found the right place!
